Well Boris the alchemist ( Better known as Jon Williams) is off touring and blowing things up in America. This leaves the keys to the explosives cabinet firmly in my grubby little mitts.
So I have the job of blowing things up and making LOADS of noise for the “Skinny Pigs 1st video shoot.
The Pigs are an up and coming local band and the video is being shot by the legendary Ray Wilkes of Flashgun films.
So stay tuned and we will keep you informed.

Well we have started to film our weekly test sessions and build a catalogue of effects and services we can offer our clients for film/television or battlefield simulations.
These are just a few and can be modified to match your exact requirements.

An explosive start to September is expected

Well I said we’d keep you all informed and here it is. Filming is scheduled for the 1st week in September for the Final and most EXPLOSIVE scene for the action film “Money Kills” this is a British film project by 2 very talented guys Lee Murphy and Luke Openshaw.
We have the job of creating the dozens of explosions the scene requires ending in a final HUGE screen filling finale.
So it’s a couple of weeks paperwork, logistics and risk assessments for me as I work out how much pyro to use where to place it and how to create an awesome effect without any incidents or accidents.
We also have another project for director Huw Bowen towards the end of September who is creating a 3 minute showcase movie full of explosions and action. So keep your eyes peeled and watch this space for more details.

Well a good week for us so far, in 2 days we have been approached to provide effects for 2 different films. So LOADS of fire and explosions on the horizon.
We also have another 2 projects in the pipeline for Ray Wilkes of Flashgun Films AND a meeting with another company regarding their next projects.

Well here it is folks the finished music video. The artist is Try Stevens and the film company is Flashgun films.
We didn’t have a HUGE remit for this project but it was fun and the end product looks amazing.

Emotional and touching, something you’d see at Disneyland

My Father recently passed away after a long-suffering illness of cancer. One of his wishes was for us to hold a celebration of his life and for his ashes to be put into fireworks for my daughter who he adored.
I searched on the internet for companies to do this and was astounded at how much they were going to charge, it was so expensive I thought it was not going to be possible to carry out dad’s last wishes.
Then I came across SM fireworks and got in touch with Mick, who was able do it at a fraction less than of the original prices I had been quoted. Nothing was a problem they even traveled a 4hour drive to our hometown to carry out a spectacular display!
Mick and Jon were very respectful of my dad’s ashes and even made a special box to carry the fireworks, which contained his ashes.
They also set it up so my daughter could press a remote controlled detonator to set off the display; this made it even more special for her to play such an important role in this very special event.
I have never seen a display as amazing and can only liken it to something you would see in Disneyland Orlando. They also threw in a surprise of lighting up my fathers’ name in fireworks, which was emotional and very touching. I can’t thank them enough for giving my dad such an amazing send off on father’s day of this year and making his wishes possible.

Well another successful display carried out yesterday and we decided to film it from the ground rather than just seeing the final aerial view.
This just shows you how close we get when hand firing and how rapid these things fire.

Celebration of life show Huge success

Well after a 4 hour drive and a nice relaxed set up in the sunshine we carried out an ashes display and allowed a family to remember and say goodbye to their loved one in accordance to his last wishes.
This was a very different display for us but very humbling and an honour for us to do.
We had previously recieved the deceased’s remains and carefully loaded them into selected fireworks.
We created a timed sequence with these fireworks and set them so his granddaughter could remote fire them and start the display.
It truly is a unique experience to see a crowd clap, cheer and cry all at the same time.

Festival Talent

Well as the weather supposedly improves throughout the country it is festival season. Whether it be Glastonbury or your local village fete, everywhere has that feeling of summer madness.
We are at Stone Festival this weekend providing stage pyrotechnics for the winners of their talent competition.
Let’s hope the weather gods remember it’s supposed to be summer.

We have the technology

In order to compete against the bigger companies we have invested in a new computer design and simulation programme.
This will allow us to design a display and see what it looks like prior to going out and firing it, so we can add/remove items and tweak the show to get the best possible results.
The beauty about this is it also allows us to create a dvd/video to show the client prior to the show.
I have created a test video and posted it on our youtube channel go check it out.
Please remember this is just a test and has been designed using a simulated LOW BUDGET display.
